First Update & Known Issues

Update (August 11, 2026): Mandragora shipped patch 1.0.009r on PC targeting the issues below. See Patch 1.0.009r for live fix details. This page remains the historical August 7 list and pre-patch workarounds.

On August 7, 2026—one day after Steam launch—Mandragora posted a thank-you note celebrating more than 15,000 concurrent players, nearly 100,000 first-day sales, and roughly 97% positive reviews. The same post confirmed a first post-launch update targeting progression blockers, with a release window of the following week (around August 10–16, 2026). This wiki page tracks that known-issues list, practical workarounds while you wait, and how the fixes connect to Competition mode, Achievements, and device guides.

We do not invent a build number or exact ship date. When Steam publishes a version string, we will mirror it here. Until then, treat everything below as developer-confirmed targets, not guaranteed live fixes on every client.

Mandragora also mentioned general quality-of-life tweaks without listing every string change. That sits on top of the large Launch day patch already shipping August 6.

Firmware blockers: Guitar Legend & MyPod

Several players hit a hard stop when a job asks for a firmware update on Guitar Legend (rhythm / guitar-adjacent gadget) or MyPod (portable music player). The UI may throw an error and refuse to complete the step even after parts and cleaning look correct.

While waiting for the patch:

  1. Manual-save before starting a firmware-tagged job (Controls).
  2. Finish non-firmware work first so rent and story walk-ins keep moving—see Shop management.
  3. Avoid stacking multiple firmware devices in one day until the update lands.
  4. If a device is already stuck, try closing the job UI, reopening Steam, and reloading the last good save rather than force-finishing.

These are progression bugs, not skill checks. Do not burn hours re-soldering when the studio already owns the failure mode.

Competition inventory lock

Competition mode (Akiba assembly events) can block inventory access, which makes winning Promise of Akiba / Star of Akiba / Legend of Akiba achievements unreliable. Pre-stage parts on the bench before entering an event when possible, and treat failed competition days as patch-sensitive rather than personal mistakes.

Achievement timing bugs

How Did I Do It (soldering iron repair) and Frugal (ten days without buying new parts) may unlock too early. Keep playing toward the intended habits—the first update is meant to correct premature pops. Steam may still show the toast; the patch goal is correct gating, not removing the achievements.

Cross-check the full structured list on Achievements.

Ultrasonic bath & IDM disassembly

Gadgets stuck in the sonic / ultrasonic bath and IDM disassembly failures interrupt the cleaning → teardown pipeline described in How to Repair. Practical habits while patched builds roll out:

  • Prefer soft brush cleaning on non-critical jobs if bath interactions feel sticky.
  • Manual-save before IDM teardowns.
  • Do not discard the whole device; reload and try a different cleaning path if the bath freezes the gadget icon.

Mail indicator & ultrawide UI

A mail-tab button that fails to show new email is dangerous for a game that gates competitions and story beats through the Y2K inbox. Habit: open the mail tab every morning even when the icon looks idle—especially before ending a day on the bike. Ultrawide users should prefer a windowed or 16:9 mode during dense disassembly until Mandragora ships the UI fix; more client tips live in Troubleshooting.

How this differs from the launch-day patch

Patch waveFocus
Launch day (Aug 6)Economy softening, QoL (dialogue history, filters, slider), solder, localization
First update (week of Aug 10)Progression blockers: firmware, competition inventory, achievement gates, bath / IDM / mail / ultrawide

Read both pages. Softened rent does not unblock a stuck MyPod firmware step.

Community device wishlist

The August 7 post also invited players to suggest devices for future restoration. That is not a dated DLC announcement—treat it as interest polling. This wiki will not invent unannounced gadgets.

What to do right now

  1. Update ReStory through Steam and watch the news hub for the first update post.
  2. Back up %AppData% (or macOS equivalent) saves before applying any hotfix.
  3. Pivot to non-firmware story arcs: Dialogue choices, Late game walkthrough, and Endings.
  4. File clean repro steps on Steam discussions if you hit issues outside this list.

Mandragora’s first-week response is unusually transparent for an indie cozy launch. Keep the shop open, route around known blockers, and treat the upcoming update as support for the repair loop—not a content expansion.
